About Redundant Risk Records
Redundant Risk Records is an independent record label founded in Berlin in 2014. We release modern composition, ambient, post-rock and quiet songwriting from a small roster of artists working between Berlin, Reykjavík and the English coast.
We work with a deliberately narrow roster — currently twelve artists — and a deliberately slow release schedule. Most of our records take between eighteen months and three years to make. We think this is fine, and we hope you do too.
The label is run day-to-day by three people, with the occasional help of an intern who is also a very good cellist. We do not have a press team, an A&R department, or a corporate parent. We do have an office cat called Eric.
How we work
We do not accept unsolicited demos through any inbox or form. We meet all of our artists through other artists on the roster, through live shows, or through people whose taste we have learned to trust. If you are reading this and you think we should know about your music, the best thing to do is to play a show somewhere we are likely to be.
We take a 50/50 split with our artists on physical sales, and a 70/30 split (in the artist’s favour) on digital. We do not own master recordings — they remain with the artist, and revert in full after the agreed term. We pay quarterly, in cash and on time.
Pressing and printing
All our records are pressed at one of two pressing plants in Germany and the Netherlands. All sleeves are designed in-house and printed either letterpress in Margate or via a small risograph studio in Leipzig. We do not use plastic shrink-wrap.
Mailing list
We send one email a month — a short note about whatever we are about to release, a longer note about whatever we are listening to, and the occasional photograph of Eric. There is a sign-up form at the bottom of every page on this site.
